Initial Wearing In of New Shoes
We provide a visual service on gait analysis and assess the best shoe for your needs. Because feet are often different and the shoes provide equal support, errors can occur. Therefore we suggest an initial two-week adjustment period, to allow the feet to get used to the shoes.
- During the first week, it is advisable to walk in the shoes as much as possible. Then select say: Monday, Wednesday & Friday as running days and run/walk for a period of 10 minutes only on each day. This is because muscles will be adapting to new positions. Sometimes a little discomfort is felt during this time.
- When you feel the shoes are comfortable, increase your running times on the second week i.e. 15 mins - Monday, 18 mins - Wednesday, and up to 20 mins - Friday (this is only a guideline, you will have a better idea of how long you can comfortably run).
- Some times it is not possible to fit shoes, in these cases it is best to seek medical or specialist advice seeing either a physiotherapist or podiatrist as orthosis maybe the answer.
- If you have persistent problems it is best to get medical advice before selecting your shoes, as we are not medically trained in injuries.
- Lastly, it is up to the customer to decide which shoe is the most comfortable and which size fits best. The final purchasing decision is with the customer. This does not affect your statutory rights.
